Big Life Changes

4 years ago a journeyman lineman fell in love with a surfer chick. They instantly bounded over their love for motorcycles and adventuring. They shared dreams of some day traveling the world on 2 wheels together. On February 22, 2015, the moto lovers got married and decided now is the time to hit the road and make these dreams come true. They both had great jobs, a beautiful home, and amazing friends in Maui so making the decision to leave was a hard one.

On May 13, 2015, Jason, myself (Melissa), and Charlie (our dog) packed up our life in Maui and headed out on an adventure not knowing what the future held (except we knew we were about to have the time of our life on motorcycles).

We had a long road trip by truck ahead of us before we could take off on our motorcycles. First stops were in Salida and Colorado Springs, Colorado to pick up Jason's truck and KTM 950 Adventure dualsport bike. We had a list of supplies and bike parts we needed to buy before we traveled to the middle of nowhere.  If you are ever in Colorado, Apex Sports in Colorado Springs (http://www.apexsportsinc.com) and Performance Cycle in Denver (http://www.performancecycle.com) are the best places to buy anything motorcycle related. We are like kids in a candy store when we walk into those stores haha.
Here is Jason with his 2006 KTM 950 Adventure.  I don't have a picture of my bike yet because I have yet to see it!  I bought a 2014 BMW G 650 GS Sertao.  My dad kindly picked it up for me in New Jersey, so I told him he could break it in for me.  (will post a picture of it in a few days)

While in Colorado Springs we got to hang out with our friends, Chris, Kelly, and Ned.  They have a spacious warehouse where Chris runs his business called MotoMinded (http://www.motominded.com). They let us set up in their shop to work on Jason's bike (putting on new tires and upgrading parts).  Ned was there getting ready for the 2015 Sardegna Rally Race.  Best wishes to him at the race!!

Tomorrow (Monday) we roll through Denver and then up to the Canadian border to drop off Charlie.  He will be spending the summer on a farm with friends while we travel.  Then we are off to Iowa and Indiana to pick up my bike and get the bikes packed up and ready to go.  We are hoping to get on the road the second week of June.  Every now and then when we have wifi on this trip, we will post stories, pictures, and advice for future adventurers.
